Privacy
The short version is the whole version.
Effective 6 October 2026
Yawp collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics,
no advertising, and no server belonging to us for your data to go to.
Most privacy policies are long because the app sends data somewhere and the
policy has to account for it. Yawp doesn’t send data anywhere, so this
page is mostly a list of things that do not happen. What follows is the
detail behind that claim.
What Yawp stores, and where
Yawp reads a Bluetooth heart-rate strap and computes everything on your
iPhone. Readings are written to a database inside the app’s own
storage on the device:
- Heart rate and the beat-to-beat (RR) intervals the strap reports
- Metrics computed from those: HRV, resting heart rate, readiness, load,
stress, sleep and its estimated stages
- Strap battery level and the identifier of the strap you paired, so the
app can reconnect to the right one
- Your height, weight, age and sex, only if you enter
them or import them under ••• → Your
profile, and only so calories and VO2 max can be
estimated
This stays on your phone. We never receive it, and we have no way to.
Apple Health
Both directions are optional, asked for separately, and the app works
without either.
| Direction | What |
| Yawp writes |
Heart rate, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability and sleep, so
your other apps can use what Yawp measured. |
| Yawp reads |
Your step count, and nothing else. It is shown
alongside your heart-rate metrics and used in the calorie estimate. |
Health data is never used for advertising, never sold, never shared with
anyone, and never leaves your device by way of this app. You can revoke
either permission at any time in Settings ▸ Health ▸ Data Access &
Devices ▸ YAWP.
iCloud backup, if you turn it on
Yawp can back up daily summaries — one small record per
day — to your own private iCloud, so a new phone starts with your history
instead of an empty baseline.
- It is off until you switch it on — tap •••
at the top right of the Today screen, then iCloud backup.
- It goes to your iCloud private database. Not to us. We cannot
read it, and neither can Apple.
- Raw samples stay on the phone; only the daily numbers sync.
- Leave it off and the app makes no network connections at all.
What Yawp does not do
- No account, no sign-up, no email address, no password.
- No analytics, crash reporting, or usage tracking of any kind.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No third-party SDKs that phone home.
- No selling or sharing of data, because there is nothing to sell and no
one to share it with.
- No tracking you across apps or websites.
Deleting your data
Delete the app. iOS removes its storage with it, and your
readings are gone. There is no copy on a server, because there is no server.
If you turned on iCloud backup, remove it separately in Settings ▸ [your
name] ▸ iCloud ▸ Manage Account Storage ▸ Yawp. Anything you wrote to Apple
Health belongs to Health, not to Yawp, and is deleted there.
Children
Yawp is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal
information from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version appears here with a new
effective date. A change that would mean collecting anything would be
announced in the app before it took effect — and would be a different
product than the one described here.
